Working with Others

Light duty cleaners work alone or with a partner.

Specialized cleaners work alone and may work with someone else if the job is big.

Janitors, caretakers and building superintendents work alone and co-ordinate their work with the work and schedules of others (e.g., tenants, contractors).

Cleaners

  • take part in formal discussions about work processes or how to improve products
  • have chances to make suggestions on improving work processes
  • track the work performance of others
  • teach others how to do a task
  • teach new employees
  • make hiring recommendations
  • make hiring decisions
  • choose contractors and suppliers
  • give tasks to other workers
  • identify training for other workers
  • deal with other workers’ grievances or complaints
