Cleaners have ongoing learning needs relating to

• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS),
• use of cleaning products and equipment
• customer service

Some cleaners must be aware of all regulatory laws, such as building codes. Training may be offered in the workplace.

Cleaners learn

• as part of regular work activity
• from co-workers
• through training offered in the workplace
• through self-study
• through training offered off-site
• through reading Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), manuals and articles
