Working with Others

Elementary and secondary school teacher assistants work independently in the classroom with students but are part of a team. They may work directly with a teacher as the teacher’s helper.

College and other vocational instructors may

• team teach courses involving theory and laboratory work
• supervise part-time instructors

• participate in formal discussions about work processes
• have opportunities to make suggestions on improving work processes
• monitor the work performance of others
• inform other workers or demonstrate to them how tasks are performed
• teach new employees
• assign tasks to others
• identify training for others
